In Review of Dave Pelz’s Short Game Bible he has given some great tools to enhance your golf game. His use of technology and statistics have allowed him to assemble one of the most detailed and informative approaches to the game of golf that is available. In Dave Pelz’s Short Game Bible you will learn the essential tools that make up the game of golf, and if implemented, allow you to play some really good and enjoyable golf.

For the high-handicapper looking to lower his scores and play some respectable golf, they need to first start with the short game. Dave Pelz’s Short Game Bible, addresses Putting, Chipping and Pitching, and the Finesse Swing, which are essential to scoring well and playing your best golf. Learning to put the ball in the “Golden Eight” Feet as Dave Pelz teaches, will get you started in the right direction. However, this book is not really for the High Handicapper as much as it is for the aspiring low handicap or scratch golfer looking to fine tune his or her game, with the skills to play better tournament or other competitive golf. High school golfers looking to make the jump to college golf and other future avenues, should always be looking for better ways and better coaches, reading golf books such as Dave Pelz’s Short Game Bible, will definitely start shaving off a few strokes.

Dave Pelz offers many suggestions for practice drills and golf training aids that will allow you to hone in your golf game even more. The ‘Short Game Bible’ has many pictures and examples to assist in understanding the suggestions. The biggest take away from the book that I found was the “Finesse Swing” with all the wedges. Creating a additional 3 yardages with every wedge in the bag, the 60°, 56°, 50° or Gap Wedge, and the Pitching Wedge or 46°. With a half swing or 7:30 as referenced in Dave Pelz’s Short Game Bible, by visualizing a clock and swinging your hands back to where the 7:30 position would be. Then swinging the club fully through impact all the way to a full finish with hands behind the ears. Allowing for a reduced controlled distance shot that with 50% of the full wedge distance and after practice can be developed into a reliable golf shot. Helping your shoot better scores by having more trusted distances in the bag. It is almost like adding 9 clubs to your repertoire. Repeating the steps all the way around the clock, 9:00 would produce a 75% of the full wedge distance, 10:30 90% respectively.

Overall review of ‘Dave Pelz’s Short Game Bible’ is a great read for every golfer, a lot of detail for the people who like to get in the weeds and analyze their game with stats and proven methods. If you are looking to have a great step by step to better short game, then Dave Pelz’s Short Game Bible will be the book for you! Please see list below for other golf instruction books by Dave Pelz.
